STEM学者计划
You are drawn to study science because you want to know how the world works. 你知道你选择的专业能做什么. 但在这个时代, specializing may not get you where you want to go—what happens if you can work with other scientists and engineers—those outside your discipline? 你认为你能做到什么?
This is the purpose of the STEM学者计划: supporting students majoring in STEM fields, 比如生物学, 化学, 和工程, where in your first year you will be encouraged to connect with peers who think like you do, 但是有不同的观点. You'll also live in the highly-coveted Northside Commons residence hall, in a wing specifically set aside for your fellow STEM scholars. 在你的前三个学期, you will get a jump start on forming collaborations and research ideas to move forward within your major. Your chances to interact with your friends and fellow scientists and engineers will expand beyond those in your classes or your residence hall. Working collaboratively and combining your knowledge from multiple fields, 你将得到支持和鼓励去识别, 理解, and directly impact real-world problems in our immediate community and beyond.
在第三学期, there will be an opportunity to apply for the newly assembled York 参与的学者 (YES). The YES program will allow you to continue your multidisciplinary skill-building by working with other scholars on design thinking, 创业设计和发明过程. 通过这些机会, you will have a deeper 理解ing of how you can work with other scientists and scholars to apply your specialized knowledge and, ultimately, change the world. Priority will be given to applications received by February 1, 2024. Applications will continue to be reviewed on a rolling basis after that date.
